ARISS CONTACT FOR ESA ASTRONAUT PAOLO
NESPOLI, IZ0JPA AND “DEDALO 2000” SCHOOL, SUCCESSFUL

i.e. 11:12 local time, “Dedalo 2000” Comprehensive Institute in Cingia de’
Botti“, Cremona, Italy, established a ARISS contact with Italian astronaut
PAOLO NESPOLI, IZ0JPA on board the International Space Station. This was a
telebridge contact by ARISS ground station W6SRJ, located in California, USA .
This is the secondary school of Cingia
de' Botti in the province of Cremona, which belongs to Istituto Comprensivo
"Dedalo 2000”. The parent of one of the students, Mrs. Antonella Pezzani,
is the author of MagISStra, the name of Paolo mission. Teachers and students
decided to participate actively and, as protagonists, in this adventure. They
participated to "Mission X" and have been training as astronauts
gaining the second place in Italy. Students of other our classes have started
the experiment "A greenhouse in space." The event to connect with
Paolo Nespoli was be held in the municipal gymnasium of Cingia de' Botti, with
about a seventy Institute students
aged 10 – 14, with their parents and
with the teachers who have organized the projects "Mission X" and
"A greenhouse in space".

proposed a telebridge contact to Alessandra Pezzani, coordinator for this ARISS event. The
questions were read by the students at municipal gymnasium in Cingia de' Botti,
with an audience of more than 150 students, teachers, visitors and media.
At 09:12 UTC contact with NA1SS was
established by station W6SRJ. Astronaut Paolo NESPOLI answered 18 questions.
The signal from the ISS was loud and clear all along the contact.
