ARISS SCHOOL CONTACT PLANNED WITH SCHOOL
IN BELLUNO, ITALY
An ARISS School Contact is planned for
Istituto Comprensivo “Marco da Melo”, Mel, Belluno, Italy Tuesday, 25 January,
2011 at 07:11 UTC, i.e. 08:11 CEWT.
The school is a state institute (primary
and middle) and is meant for students aged 6 to 14 years old. It has about 250
students. Its name " Marco da Melo" comes from a historic character (
a painter ) of the 16th century. The school is situated in a wide valley, Val
Belluna ( the valley of Belluno ). All the subjects included in the national
regulations for this age bracket are taught: Italian, History, Geography,
Science, Maths, foreign languages, Art, Music and I.T.. Some technological
workshops have been started up for three years
and for the students of the last school year with the help of the
radioamateurs of the local radio club of Feltre. Themes related to
telecommunication are dealt with and experiments of electrophysics are carried
out as well as CW tests. Footage and slides related to the world of the radio
are shown.
The planned ARISS contact will be a
direct and interested parties can listen in on 145.800 MHz FM. Downlink signals
will be audible over Europe.

decollo o il rientro a terra?

ARISS is an international educational
outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian
Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations
from participating countries.
ARISS offers an opportunity for students
to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with
crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and
communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can
energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
