ARISS SCHOOL CONTACT PLANNED WITH SCHOOL IN LADISPOLI, ITALY

An ARISS School Contact is planned for Corrado Melone and Istituto Comprensivo Ilaria Alpi, Ladispoli, Italy.

The "Istituto Comprensivo Ladispoli" is located in Ladispoli, a town with 40000 inhabitants, situated on the sea at 45 km from Rome. The school has 1.105 pupils, boys and girls, aged 3-14. Most of the classrooms are in the new building of Via Varsavia, but some students attend lessons in classrooms in other buildings. All the offices, including the principal’s office, are on the ground floor of the school in via Varsavia where we also have a gym, a teacher room, a school library, a school hall, some laboratories, an ICT room, an Art room, a Music room.

The Middle School "Corrado Melone" is also situated in Ladispoli, in the Roman province. About 1200 students aged 11 – 14 attend the classes. Teachers and students are interested in learning more about the space station and the activities of the astronauts. as well as in meeting the radio amateurs and learn about their activities.

The direct radio contact is scheduled on Tuesday January 18, 2011 at 13:38 UTC which is 14.38 CEWT.

The ARISS contact will be conducted in Italian with astronaut Paolo Nespoli – IZ0JPA.

The downlink signals will be audible in Europe on 145.800 MHz FM.

The students will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

1. Quali sono i principali obbiettivi della tua missione?

3. Cosa vorresti scoprire o fare in particolare sulla I.S.S.?

8. Come appare la terra vista dallo spazio?

9. Hai pensato mai che gli alieni ti osservino?

10. Quanto impiega la navicella per effettuare un’orbita intorno alla terra?

11. Quando vedi la terra dallo spazio cosa pensi del nostro pianeta?

12. Ha mai avuto paura nello spazio?

13. Quali cose vedete o fate nello spazio vi affascinano di piu?

14. Come sono fatte le tute spaziali?

15. Cosa avete dovuto fare per prepararvi a questa missione?

16. Che temperatura c’e fuori dalla stazione orbitante?

17. Qual’ e l’addestramento dell’astronauta?

18. Qual’e il momento piu pericoloso durante la missione, il decollo o l’atterraggio?

19. Il suono della voce umana e diverso nello spazio?

20. Quali progetti si svolgono a bordo della ISS?

21. Come appare la Terra dallo spazio?

22. Come si vive in uno spazio piccolo come lo Space Shuttle?

23. Quanto tempo ci si mette ad arrivare nello spazio?

24. Che cosa mangiate e bevete?

25. Ci sono laboratori sulla I.S.S. per realizzare esperimenti scientifici?

26. Come si fa la barba in assenza di gravita?

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
