ARISS SCHOOL CONTACT PLANNED WITH SCHOOL IN CIVITAVECCHIA, ROME, ITALY

An ARISS School Contact is planned for Istituto Comprensivo Via Toscana 2 Civitavecchia, Roma, Italy.

The direct radio contact is scheduled on Saturday January 15 at 09:02 UTC, which is 10.02 CEWT.

The school has 5 sites in town. “Ennio Galice” secondary school is named after one of its best teachers as well as a well-known painter. The present school is the result of the union of two pre-existing ones and today, with its five branches, it operates on a very large area. There are about 750 pupils aged 3 to 14. Thanks to experienced teachers, attentive to social as well as environmental problems, the students are always prepared to participate to projects concerning wide ranging themes.

The ARISS contact will be conducted in Italian with astronaut Paolo Nespoli – IZØJPA.

The downlink signals will be audible in Europe on 145.800 MHz FM.

The students will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

11. Il tuo lavoro nello spazio quali benefici porterà per l’umanità?

12. Ho sentito parlare di un progetto per studiare le cellule staminali nello spazio. In questo momento sulla ISS c’è qualche scienziato che ci sta lavorando?

13. Qual è la tua attività preferita in la ISS?

14. Come ci si sente ad osservare la terra dallo spazio?

15. Qual è la cosa più bella che hai visto dallo spazio?

16. Come trascorri il tuo tempo libero quando sei nello spazio?

17. Si può giocare a basket, calcio o altri sport all'interno della ISS?

18. Che rapporti hai con i tuoi compagni di missione?

19. Svolgete calcoli sulle orbite degli asteroidi, che passano vicino alla terra?

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
