ISS COMMANDER FRANK DE WINNE ANSWERED QUESTIONS FROM STUDENTS IN GAO, MALI

Thursday October 15, 2009 at 16:30 UTC, ISS Commander Frank De Winne answered questions from students in Gao, Mali.

This was a special event in the UNICEF WaSH campaign around projects for "Water, Sanitation and Hygiene". 15 October was "Hand-washing Day".

Telebridge ground station K3DUE established contact with the International Space Station and Frank De Winne answered five questions. The contact was shortened, mainly due to phoneline issues.

An audio recording of the contact will be appended to this News Bulletin, archived at www.ariss-eu.org/archive.htm

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station.

Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
