ASTRONAUT FRANK DE WINNE TO TALK WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN BELGIUM

An International Space Station ARISS contact has been planned for astronaut Frank De Winne with students at Sint-Michielscollege Brasschaat, Belgium.

Sint-Michielscollege Brasschaat (SMCB), Belgium is located in a suburban area, NE of Antwerp. The school provides primary and secondary education to respectively 600 and 900 students.

1500 students, aged 6 to 18, participated to the preparation of the space talk and will assist to the event.  

The contact will be a direct operated by ground station ON7RT, Wednesday October 7, 2009 at 10:21 UTC, which is 12:21 CEST.

Downlink signals will be audible over Central Europe on 145.800MHz FM.

The contact will be distributed on *AMSAT* and *JK1ZRW* EchoLink servers.

Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

1.  Henri: Wat is het tofste aan de ruimte?
What is the coolest thing about being in space?

2. Tabea: Wat is het moeilijkste aan uw beroep?
What is the most difficult thing about your profession?

3. Koen-Jr.: Hoe gaat u naar de WC?
How do you use the lavatory?

4. Jonathan: Gaan jullie nog ruimtewandelingen maken?
Are you still going to do some spacewalks?

5. Jules: Welke temperatuur is er in de ruimte?
What's the temperature like outside?

6. Isabelle: Spreekt u soms met uw vrouw of kinderen als u in de ruimte zit?
Do you sometimes talk to your wife and kids when you're up there?

7. Henri: Is het waar dat jullie urine drinken?
Is it true that you drink your own urine?

8. Mathias: Kan een vlieg vliegen in het ruimtestation?
Can a fly fly in the space station?

9. Catherine: Als u een boek ergens zou neerleggen zou het 10 minuten later dan ergens anders liggen?
If I put a book somewhere inside the space station, would it be somewhere else after ten minutes?

19. Flo: Waar leg je je vuile kleren?

20. Karen: Bestaat de mogelijkheid dat er een stuk van een kapot ruimtetuig op het ISS vliegt?
Is it possible that debris from space hits the ISS?

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
