ASTRONAUT TALKS WITH STUDENTS AT FLEMISH SPACE DAYS, BELGIUM

US astronaut Michael Barratt KD5MIJ, onboard the International Space Station, answered questions from students at Flemish Space Days Exhibition in Leuven, Belgium on Sunday 10 May 2009.

The radio contact was established by ARISS telebridge ground station W6SRJ,
Santa Rosa California, operated by Geoff KK6JAB and Herb K6QXB. Radio signals between NA1SS and W6SRJ were excellent. Michael Barratt answered all 20 questions prepared by the students.

Freddy De Schuiteneer ON3FDS did an audio recording of the Space Talk. It will be attached to this News Bulletin, archived at www.ariss-eu.org/archive.htm .

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the participating space agencies, NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA, with the AMSAT and IARU organizations from participating countries.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.
