GERMAN SCHOOL TO TALK WITH ISS FRIDAY 8 DECEMBER 2006

An ARISS school contact has been planned with students at Erweiterte Realschule Weiskirchen, Germany on Friday 8 December 2006. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 22:10 UTC which is 23:10 continental time.

This will be a direct contact between stations RS0ISS and DL0ERW. Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin RZ3FT is in charge of the contact and Thomas Reiter DF4TR will answer the questions in German.  

The contact should be audible in most of Europe. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.800 MHz downlink.

ERS Weiskirchen is a general education school where the pupils can achieve a standard and secondary graduation. The school participates as one of 11 pilot schools from the federal states Saarland, Rheinland-Pfalz and Hessen in the project "Innovative all-day school". As special example concerning the project, the school has successfully performed the launch of a balloon to the stratosphere in cooperation with the radio club "DARC Ortsverbandes Wadern, Q21". Following this contact with radio technology, a core-team of interested pupils has been formed. With the support of radio amateurs, a radio station has been set up and a radio club has been founded. Several students have passed examinations and are now amateur radio licensees, operating with their own callsign.

5.  Mein Name ist Stefan,DO3SZ:  Können die Funkgeräte in Dauerbetrieb bleiben oder würde dann zu viel Energie verbraucht? OVER.

6.  Mein Name ist Sakia,DO1SH: Kann man aus der ISS mit bloßen Augen auch andere Planeten außer der Erde sehen? OVER.

7.  Mein Name ist Eva,DO6LBR: Können Sie von der ISS aus Gebäude auf der Erde erkennen? OVER.

8.  Mein Name ist Günter,DO9GPF: In Kalifornien gibt es häufig Flächenbrände. Konnten Sie welche von der ISS aus sehen? OVER.

9.  Mein Name ist Sandy,DO6PSA: Wie viele Sonnenaufgänge und -untergänge können Sie während einer Umrundung der Erde sehen und wie kontrollieren Sie Ihren persönlichen Tagesrhythmus? OVER.

10.  Mein Name ist Achim,DO7WAT: Wie gestalten Sie Ihre Freizeit an Bord? OVER.

11.  Mein Name ist Stephanie,DO2SKS: Wenn Sie Gitarre spielen, hört sich das in der ISS genauso an wie auf der Erde? OVER.

16.  Mein Name ist Rebecca,DO9RBW: Schnarcht man in der Schwerelosigkeit, mehr oder weniger als auf der Erde? OVER.

17.  Mein Name ist Manuel,DO5MAN: Wenn jemand von der Crew ernsthaft erkrankt, wie kann ihm geholfen werden? OVER.

18.  Mein Name ist Devid,DO3DHE: Spürt man einen Rückstoß, wenn man in der Schwerelosigkeit niest? OVER.

19.  Mein Name ist Stephanie,DO2SKS: Wie fühlten Sie sich beim Start des Shuttles? OVER.

20.  Mein Name ist Sebastian,DO3SRL: Muss man vor der Rückkehr auf die Erde ein besonderes Muskeltraining absolvieren? OVER.

21.  Mein Name ist Achim,DO7WAT:  Was essen Sie an Bord und wie essen Sie? OVER.

22.  Mein Name ist Saskia,DO1SH: Was erwarten oder wünschen Sie sich von Ihrem weiteren Aufenthalt im All? OVER.

Please note, the amateur equipment on the ISS is not functioning in the automatic modes properly and may be silent more than usual. The radios are planned to be shutdown in preparation for the upcoming shuttle mission.

ARISS, Amateur Radio on the International Space Station, an international working group of several amateur radio societies from countries participating to the ISS, provides a free educational outreach programme in collaboration with the Space Agencies, involving a worldwide team of volunteering amateur radio operators.
